Todd Wynward, founder & executive director

Todd Wynward is an author, father, public school founder, math video game designer, small-scale farmer, wilderness educator and Mennonite minister for watershed discipleship. He has been engaged in education reform and social change movements for twenty years—starting both Roots & Wings Community School and Vista Grande HS—and has spent more than a thousand nights outdoors. With his allies in New Mexico Todd tries to practice an earth-honoring, people-dignifying, society-changing, despair-erasing Christianity. His recent book, Rewilding the Way: Break Free to Follow an Untamed God, was published by Herald Press.

Ben Mortensen, operations coordinator

Ben joined TiLT as Operations Coordinator in Fall 2019. He helps coordinate TiLT programs and retreats as well as events in the larger community. Already involved in local environmental and community planning issues, in recent months Ben has helped Taos organize for the Global Climate Strike, and provided important leadership to Plastic Free Taos. He helped organized two letter writing campaigns for the Taos Community—one regarding forest planning and another protecting our regional waters and acequia culture.

Peg Bartlett, educator

Peg Bartlett and Todd Wynward are a married team of educators who—long before TiLT ever existed— founded Roots & Wings Community School, an innovative k-8 public charter school in a mountain setting offering adventurous project-based education for the head, hands & heart. Now Peg acts as placement liaison for TiLT personnel who work with Roots & Wings, as well as TiLT’s liaison for Plastic Free Taos and Taos Mens Shelter.

holly armstrong, TiLT residency year

Holly came to TiLT in August as a short-term WWOOF farm volunteer straight outta Austin, and she hasn’t left. After finding out how good TilT is for her and how good she is for TiLT, Holly decided to stay on for TiLT’s Roots & Wings Residency Year. She works as an educational support staff at Roots & Wings twice a week, and also engages in TiLT life and labor as well as community rhythms like conscious conversations and weekly Food Labs. As part of her Fall field experiences, she joined the TiLT crew for the SW Intentional Community Summit at Lama Foundation, Convergence 2019 at Arcosanti in Arizona, and a “Wading Deeper into Creation Care Through the Watershed Way” event in Alamosa, CO .

Brian price, tilt’s site coordinator

Brian slept outside at TiLT for a few months in the Salvage Hermitage with his dog Penny before deciding to become TiLT’s Site Coordinator and move inside for the winter. Brian is on staff at the Taos Men’s Shelter and a tireless advocate for—and friend of—the homeless poor. Luckily for us, Brian follows a personal discipline of six days of work followed by a seventh day of sabbath rest—which means he joyfully gives more of himself to TiLT than we deserve.
